Ümit Dogan is Turkish-American and was educated in Germany, where he received degrees in Textile Engineering and Business Management. His love of people and his knowledge of cultures, history, arts & crafts, archaeology and world affairs led him to the travel business. This background and the intimate nature of our tours have encouraged many lasting friendships.
Treasures of Travel has been in business for over 30 years. The director, Ümit Dogan, was born and raised in Turkey and is now a US citizen. With a passion for history, culture, architecture and the arts, he has designed these tours to allow our guests to experience the best of each of the countries we visit. His concern for each guest is reflected in the attention to detail that is evident in every aspect of our tours. Hundreds of letters of appreciation have crossed our desk, and we are happy to supply these references on request.
Treasures of Travel respects your privacy and will not use your contact information for any purpose other than to respond to your inquiry.
Why Choose Treasures of Travel?
Small Groups and Personal Attention
Our tours are limited to 10-12 guests, ensuring special attention to each guest. Having small groups allows us to stay in small, quaint, convenient hotels (some of which are restored Ottoman mansions.) A group of this size also makes it possible to enjoy the traditional and regional cuisine of Turkey or other countires in small restaurants and experience local culture in a manner simply not feasible in large tourist groups.
Each tour is planned with the utmost attention to detail, with particular emphasis placed on the special interests of the group members. Our small group size makes it possible to accommodate each guest as far as possible without inconvenience to the rest of the group. In addition, we can customize a tour to fit the needs of each traveler; for instance you can join a group for only a portion of the tour, or arrange early arrival or an extension.
Your tour guide is instrumental in ensuring that your visit is enjoyable and informative. Our guides are experienced professionals who share love of people and their country; they are multilingual and come from a variety of backgrounds.
In addition to being knowledgeable about their country's history and archaeological sites, they provide wealth of information about modern and ancient culture and take pride in sharing their country with our guests.
Off The Beaten Track
The people are exceptionally warm and friendly, and your visit will provide plenty of opportunities to meet them personally. It is not unusual to be invited to a villager's home or to participate in a local festival or celebration. Whenever possible we try to accommodate our guests' special areas of interest
Especially appreciated is the easy pace at which the group travels. The tours are designed to avoid long hours in transit, and there are frequent rest and refreshment stops. Ample time is always allowed for visiting museums and archaeological sites, for eating and shopping.
